Book of Remembrance

BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL

At the time of bereavement it is natural to quietly remember and express personal feelings. For this reason a Book of Remembrance has been provided and is on view daily at the Crematorium displayed in a cabinet in the Chapel of Remembrance.

It provides an inexpensive yet lasting form of memorial to those cremated or those whose cremated remains lie in the Garden of Remembrance or elsewhere.

The Book, consisting of several hand made richly bound volumes, contains a page for each day of the year.

The pages are turned daily to allow viewing on the appropriate anniversary. The inscriptions, which are hand painted by artists, provide a lasting form of memorial and offer the same degree of permanency as the best examples of medieval illuminated manuscripts.

Inscriptions must consist of 2, 5 or 8 lines only. A floral motif or suitable badge or emblem may accompany a 5 or 8 line entry.
